Post Turtle

A 75-year-old Texas rancher recently explained this term to a country doctor. The conversation turned to the US election, and Sarah Palin’s vice-presidential candidacy, and the old rancher observed: Well, ya know, Palin is a post-turtle. The bemused doctor asked what a post-turtle was, and the old man replied: When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post-turtle. The rancher continued: You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.[Ben Macintyre on the bloody origins of the most benign words – such as mayonnaise]

Does this analogy apply to Dileep?

  1. Ouch… comparing Dileep to Sarah Palin! I liked the political tones of this article 🙂

I think Dileep is well aware about limitations of his physique. And he has never shied away from chosing roles like Radhakrishnan (Chanthupottu) which only he could have performed with full justice. Given appropriate roles, he is capable of delivering a great performance. In some sense, he does represent the average Malayali youth. May be more than Mammootty or Mohanlal.

  2. How much is Prithraj paying you?

  3. Dileep’s so called great performances were on mimicry shaded characters. Chanthupottu and Kunjikoonan. No serious roles were handled well by him. He is an actor with a lot of limitations.

Boy next door roles has a limit. How many times he can repeat?. Now he is 40, surely past his prime time.

  4. Hilarious Analogy !!

I too have felt that Dileep doesnt deserve to be up there. The point is well proven by the fact that he’s been struggling for the past two years to deliver atleast a hit. People dont seem to miss him that much even when he sat at home for more than 6 months maybe because family roles and comedy roles have been taken over by Jayaram, Jayasurya and the lot. The rising from the ashes of Jayaram may prove fatal for Dileep.
