The trend among everyone in Malayalam film industry, except the main actors, seems to be to find employment in film industries of other languages. This has resulted in a trade imbalance situation like the one between US and China. Most goods manufactured in China are not affordable to the Chinese and the US keeps buying Chinese goods but does not have much to offer in return.
We have Asin, Nayantara, Meera Jasmine, Bhavana and Gopika or as we like to call it, Kavya’s friends, as regulars in both Tamil and Telugu film industry. Joshi’s Lion was remade in Tamil and Karthika was the heroine against Sharath Kumar and in Telugu it was Samvritha Sunil. Now Bhama is going to act in the Tamil remake of Chintamani Kola Case and Kavya Madhavan is playing the heroine in Sadhu Mirandal. Director Siddique is behind Sadhu Mirandal and one of our best directors Lal Jose is planning a Tamil film after Mulla. Besides this, Shaji Kailas will be directing the Tamil version of Chintamani.
Going to Tamil or Telugu for film artistes seems to as common as going to Gulf for normal folks. The next frontier would be to break into Hindi films and get noticed at the national level. When Raj Kumar Santoshi offered a role to Nayantara we thought she would be first one to reach Mumbai, but that offer looked like an election promise. Now it looks like Asin will be the first one among this pack to appear in a Hindi film, remake of Ghajini, against Aamir Khan. Now Ken Ghosh wants to sign her up for a movie against Shahid Kapur and Honey Irani wants her against Salman Khan.
We hope others will follow.

Asin seems to be planning her career very carefully. I think what makes her stand out is her superior diction (even in hindi with synch sound), higher intelligence compared to the kavya’s and nayantara’s and her reasonably conservative dressing sense. Besides she is the brand ambassador of quite a few ads (not the pappadam, velichenna types) and she has some good
exposure in that way. I think he has the maximum chances of doing well in this group.
You guys forgot to mention Navya Nair – Apparently Salman Khan happened to see Navya at an inaugration and was bowled over and wants her to act with him

Krishnan – I agree to a certain extend, but not completely. Too much of hype about this woman, it is too early to predict her future. Web sites like Sify are making too much of her, she is not worth it. Stars like Sridevi did not have too much of competition, but not her – right now in bollywood, standards have changed – Asins standard might have worked wonders for Tamil / Telugu but not for Hindi. There are better stars in India than this ASIN !!!
Also, what you said about Navya is true.
