We won’t be pretentious and say that we like only artsy serious movies. We also like silly comedies and silly songs, like Meesha Madhavan and the song Chinga Masam.

We get to hear  songs much before the movies are released and conjure up the visualization in our mind. Usually we get disappointed when we see the movie due to the utter lack of creativity in visualization. In the eighties, when Illayaraja was the the only music director in Tamil Nadu, we listened to one of his songs called Puthupattu which had terrific beats. With high expectations we went to see the movie only to see Ramarajan dancing in red shirt and green pants.

In Malayalam, one of our favourite Vidyasagar songs is Manimuttathu Avani Panthal from the film Dreamz. When we saw the film, we saw a Suresh Gopi desperately trying to shake a leg or two. Recently the film Balram vs Tharadas, Mathapoove had high energy, but the visualization did not even capture the energy of the song. Let us not even go into the visualization of Dileep and Kavya’s foreign songs.

The songs of Speedtrack were released almost a year back and since then we have been listening to Kokko Kozhi, a song whose lyrics makes Vairamuthu’s telephone mani pol sirippaval ivala sound like Kumaran Asan’s poetry. The song was sung by Vineeth Srinivasan and Rimi Tomy and it did not make things easy either. But Deepak Dev’s music had a terrific beat to it which was addictive.

When we saw the song we were equally impressed (or not disappointed). Gajala’s dance, Dileep’s steps and the color combination of the dresses against various backdrops made the song visually attractive. The camera movements, both over head and the steady cam along with the fast cutting captured the energy of the song. At the end of it, this song is yet another variation of the hero and heroine doing exercises in front of a hundred extras, but it was choreographed better than many we have seen before.

Surprised to see this article. Only yesterday I saw the song and my responce was “when will our heroes learn to dance”.

May be I expected too much.

Malayalam movies as well as award shows on television have to stop Tamil “dappankoothu style” dancing. Either the choreographers don’t know any better or thats all our stars can do.But its really painful to watch.Malayalam films need to consider a better alternative .

I saw the movie speeed track.I dont know what to say about the movie. But there is absolutely nothing in it.Even the the comedy department the film fails to make a mark.I can’t even imagine Dileep as an athlete. He badly wants a hit(he hasn’t got that after Chandupottu). But if he continues in this manner;he will be out of the industry sooner or later.

Director Jayasurya has a lame beginning. What the film has to offer? It is a told again story. In Tamil I have seen 2 movies in that line of story. It did not do anything good for Dileep. Well it would be better if Jayasurya gives the story dept.to a talented writer.
