Kochi seems to be the happening place for Malayalam cinema. It usurped the place of Ottapalam-Shornur belt as the place where most movies are shot.

A rejuvenated malayalm fim industry had it’s first movie of 2006 shot in and around Cochin – Joshi’s Lion. This was the first hit of the new year. It was followed by Suresh Gopi’s Rashtram and Chintamani Kola case, Mammootty’s Thuruppugulan, Dileep’s Pachakuthira. Few important portions of Balram Vs Taradas were also shot in Cochin. There were few other movies which were partially shot in Kochi. Kochi’s Cinema.

To Kochi’s credit are facilities like Airport, shipyard, villas, bungalows, flats, sea, backwaters, uninterested bystanders, posh hotels, rent a crowd etc. not to forget about the inspiration for underworld goonda dramas based on real life incidents.

It is also easy to catch a flight from Kochi International Airport to Bangkok, New Zealand or Singapore for that we-can-embarass-everyone dance abroad.
